There is a McDonald's Restaurant on Route 23 in the Borough of Franklin, New Jersey in the rural Sussex County. This restaurant was owned by a man named Roland and his wife who both worked there themselves at least six days a week. Roland had someone give free coffee refills to seniors at breakfast time. They put in one of these play centers for children, there was a community bulletin board, it was a busy location. Kid's made it a hang out, handicapped accessible signs were constantly stolen off the restroom doors, the police always came for donations, but never did anthing. When Roland and wife both retired they sold it back to McDonald's as no franchise owner wanted to buy it.
Several years ago under the management of McDonald's there was bad service, cold food and irresponsible kids working there, in addition to rude assistant managers.
My gripe is this was not a real in compliance ADA restaurant.
1-No accessible entrance.
2-No handicapped parking with posted signs.
3-The curb cut was not near the entrance and was only a foot wide.
4-No real seating for someone in a wheelchair.
5-The restrooms were not accessible - they put the toilet paper dispensor five feet from the floor - grab bars were not accessible - wash basin was not accessible - hand dryers were a joke.
6-The parking lot had huge potholes - they put a box in the pothole after someone broke an axle.
What did McDonald's do about this? Nothing !!! A  former manager, Tammy kept saying they would close the restaurant down and refurbish it. I got the same message from a division manager, nothing changed. It never happened !!! Calling the McDonald's call center in Atlanta, Ga did nothing. I asked for an ADA Compliance Officer. They could not produce one. All phone numbers went nowhere except into the call center who did nothing. Not even return phone calls. Calling the regional office did not even get a return phone call.
