Nellie Kate Gainer is the Advocacy Coordinator at disABILITY LINK. Kate is the former Disability Initiative Coordinator for CityCares. Kate is a former information specialist and minority outreach coordinator for the Southeast Disability and Business Technical Assistance Center. Kate is a former Disability Affairs Coordinator in the Mayorâs Office for the City of Atlanta. She is a member of several disability related organizations including ADAPT, People First of Atlanta

Calling All Women with Disabilities

 

I had a wonderful opportunity last September to begin a dialogue with women with disabilities.  The group was convened by the Mayor’s Office of the City of Atlanta.  I say dialogue but it wasn’t that per say.  But judging by the women who attended, a dialogue is needed.  I would like to try it again. 

 

Maybe after talking as a group we will find that there are issues that are relevant to disability but only pertain to women or maybe not.  Either way, it couldn’t hurt to gather one more time for a conversation.  If there are women who would like to get together and talk about issues that pertain to women with disabilities, I wish you would email me at nkgainer@dhr.state.ga.us and let me know you are willing to participate.
